August 2: Automobiles Logos & Ornamentation
Steve Hahn is a retired plumber, collector, designer, model builder, and sculptor who summers in Gray Gables. His talk will explore the early years of motoring and how auto makers from the earliest 1900's to today have used their names, logos, and ornamentation to identify their marques and how fiercely they are guarded. Steve will also display a portion of his collection of historic & restored hood ornaments.
August 9: The Trulli of Puglia, Vernacular Architecture in Southeastern Italy
Jeffrey Staats had to cancel his talk on historic ball parks due to health issues. Bill Dermody, a registered architect, has agreed to talk on “The Trulli of Puglia, Vernacular Architecture in Southeastern Italy.” Trulli are small dry laid masonry structures built with local limestone dating back to the 1800’s. Bill’s trip to Italy was inspired by the book “Stone Shelters” by Ed Allen.
August 16: The Voyage of Windbird
Judy Handley, a Falmouth resident, and public educator, sailed around the world with her husband Mark for six years visiting 36 countries and logging 39,000 miles on their 42-foot sailboat Windbird. Through a photo and video journey, Judy will take you on a voyage to her favorite sailing destinations.
August 23: Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Sheryl Faye returns to perform a one-woman show on RGB. Sheryl is a professional actor and voiceover artist, a member of both the Screen Actors Guild and the Academy American Federation of Television & Radio Artists with dozens of theater and television credits including The Perfect Storm, The Sopranos, Sex in The City, and Providence.
