2018 Schoolhouse Holiday Fair
On Saturday December 1st. 2018, family, friends, and neighbors from far and near came to shop and show their support for our beloved Schoolhouse. Tables were laden with a variety of goods for sale including Laura Murphy’s beautifully hand-painted wooden signs and folk art, Bonnie Thomas’s Cataumet-inspired oil paintings, and FishAye Trading Company’s placemats, trays, and bowls. A host of local artisans offered jewelry, handmade soaps, whimsical framed prints, pottery, and hand-sewn bags, clothing and other items for children and pets. Two of Judy Vaz’s fresh holiday wreaths festively adorned the Schoolhouse doors, while additional wreaths and table arrangements on display outside were also for sale.
Several local businesses generously donated to the raffle. Lucky patrons won gift certificates to the Chart Room, Village Trading Company, Daily Brew, North Falmouth Cheese Shop, Cataumet Fish, and Somerset Creamery, baskets of goodies from Periwinkles gift shop and Pocasset Pretzels, and a lovely Poinsettia serving platter donated by Caskata Artisanal Home.
Thanks go out to the small army of bakers who donated their treats to the Bake Sale, to Brian Handy for donating the crates of cranberries, to Patti DiBella for providing steaming hot mulled cider, and to Nancy Eldridge for once again making her delicious homemade chowder—four perennial favorites that visitors look forward to year after year.
Co-chairs Laurie Bartlett, Gloria Gammons, and Bonnie Thomas greatly appreciate the support of fellow board members: Jean Davock and Joan Holden (Bake Sale), Pam Arpe (Raffle and Accounting), Marianne Ouellette and Kris Fisher (Publicity), Paul Moscaritolo, Ben Joyce and Robert Botelho (Buildings and Grounds) and all others who volunteered their time and efforts before, during, and after the fair.
Together we were able to keep this special Cataumet holiday tradition going strong and raise funds vital to the many wonderful programs and events that take place at the Schoolhouse throughout the year - 3rd Grade Visits, Tuesday Talks, Antique Car Show, as well as maintenance and upkeep of this historic building.
